The Griffith Island Club is a private hunt club located in the Georgian Bay area of Ontario, near Wiarton. We are presently looking for a Senior Game Manager/Hunting Supervisor. This  a permanent full time position 

Required Duties

  •   Game bird production and management (raising pheasants, including breeding from incubation of eggs through to mature birds)
  •   Ensuring safe and interesting hunts of various kinds, applying an innovative spirit for purposes of creating memorable shooting and hunting experiences
  •   Assessing various styles of hunting/game shoots and making recommendations as to cost, desirability and practicality of implementation of a wide variety of game shooting experiences
  •   Being responsible and accountable for all game related activities including the general caring, health and release of game birds and the health of deer and turkey populations and their harvest
  •   Reviewing and assessing the club’s current facilities in regards to pheasant breeding processes and making recommendations, complete with budgets, as to how these can be improved
  •   Being responsible for predator control activities (necessary and on-going) and minimizing loss of livestock
  •   Being responsible for hunt safety, guide training, guide evaluation and the conduct of hunts
  •   Responsible for design, layout, cultivation and planting of game cover crops and deer feed plots
  •   Overseeing the staff necessary for carrying out responsibilities, underkeepers, guides, predator control and game keeping
  •   Working closely with Club Management adhering to plans, budgets for materials, labor, game bird orders and schedules
  •   Following all Health and Safety policies and procedures as generated by Club Management and participating in their developmentRequired Skills
  •   Knowledge of best breeding practices for game birds such as ring neck pheasants
  •   Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in a shooting/outdoor preserve environment
  •   Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in game management including QDMA (Quality Deer Management)
  •   Must have at least ten (10) years’ combined experience in education training and/or experience as a Head Gamekeeper
  •   Knowledge of hunting dog training and conditioning
  •   Good customer relation skills
  •   Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of crop management practices/farming are both a necessity

  •   Salary and benefit package including health, dental, meals and accommodation while working on the island as well as participation in a performance based bonus system.

  Housing assistance is available while on days off the island.

  Private accommodation is provided onsite when working on the island

  Typical rotation is ten (10) days working on island and four (4) days off island

  Salary range of $50,003 to $65,000 is based on experience

Must hold a valid Firearms Licence and Hunting Licence
