Job Description

Each season Kayak Fundy | FreshAir Adventure Ltd., welcomes new members to our team. We start hiring in February and keep hiring until our positions are filled. Our goal is to offer a fun and supportive working environment, competitive wages, annual raises and other perks.

Kayak guides usually work in teams of two or three. You will be responsible for leading rewarding, safe, educational and fun trips for people of many backgrounds and levels of experience. Certification and training are only the building blocks of a great guide. We take our work personally and will offer “in-house” training that covers Kayak Fundy’s tour standards, safety and risk management policies. We expect guides to be – or learn to be – strong leaders who are knowledgeable about natural and cultural history, as well as good communicators with an optimistic outlook. Our operations and interpretation manual is provided to all guides prior to beginning work.

This year, we are looking for one Senior Guide/Operations Manager, as well as three more Senior and Junior kayak guides. More information can be found on our website at

Salary ranges with experience, but starts at $12.00/hr. We also provide free housing, which is a significant help in keeping your dollars in your pockets!

  1. Minimum Paddle Canada Level 1 (junior) or Level 2 (ideally Level 3 for senior guides, or equivalent).
  2. Basic First Aid and CPR is a must for junior guides; Wilderness First Aid Certificate (40 or 80 hours) is preferred.
  3. Passion and skill for natural history interpretation, good safety judgment and positive motivating leadership skills are essential “soft” skills.
  4. Of course, you will also need to be legally able to work in Canada prior to being hired.
