Key Responsibilities

Supervises Program Coordinator and Residential Youth Counselor (RYC) Relief staff and has responsibility for the effective management of the Student Program. Will serve as a member of the PRI Management Team.

Deliverables include hiring, orientation, training and development, scheduling and engagement of staff. Actively involved with and supporting the therapeutic needs of the students.

  • Ensures development of structured, intentional and creative therapeutic programming.
  • Provides a clinical perspective to program activities and serves as a resource to RYCs, regarding student management, as well as understanding student’s mental health issues and special needs
  • Participates/observes areas of program where students are having challenges, trouble shoots and provides feedback.
  • Schedules Program staff ,manages time off and staff changes proactively
  • Reviews resumes, conducts interviews, checks references and recommends hiring of Outdoor Leadership Experience and RYC staff
  • Working closely with the Clinical Director in providing ongoing evaluation of programs through observation and participation. Responds to student and staff reports regarding problematic program areas.
  • Provides for safety and security of students and school, and develops policies for same.
  • Directs behaviour crisis management, including guidance of RYCs, debriefing incidents and creating best practices.
  • Facilitates or co-facilitates groups, as needed shares school on-call duties with senior staff.

 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

 

Demonstrated ability to implement a program vision and execute on goals, provide sound judgment, leadership, integrity, patience, commitment and a sense of humour.

University education in relevant discipline is required.

Experience with and training in child and youth care practices in a mental health or youth addiction program preferred.

Demonstrated ability to be creative, flexible, self-motivated and professional with a commitment to personal growth and development.

Valid First Aid Certification & Level ‘C’ CPR. Instructor level ideal.

Valid F Class Driver’s License (obtaining F Class within 6 months if not qualified at employee’s cost)
