Out-Tripping Coordinator

Contract– April 22nd 2017 – August 25th 2017 or April 22nd 2017 – October 16th 2017

Compensation – $1225/month




Camp Warwa will be hiring two Out-Tripping Coordinator (OTC) positions for the 2017 season. Camp Warwa is a year-round facility that is dedicated to improving the lives of children through experiences in the outdoors. The OTC will primarily work as a Program Staff during the spring season.  During the spring, the OTC will have multiple days dedicated to preparing for the summer season. In spring, our user-groups consist mainly of school groups, in addition to youth groups, Girl Guide, and Scout groups.


The OTC is responsible for preparing the out-tripping centre for the summer season. The OTC will assist in planning and participate in scouting the trips for the summer season. During the summer, the OTC is responsible for the day to day operations and management of the out-tripping centre. The OTC’ will assist with leading out-trips on the river during the summer season. The OTC will also drive trips to and from their locations. During the summer months, the OTC pay will increase to $1350/month


During the summer the OTC’ will be included on the summer leadership team, which includes the Executive Director, Camp Director, Operations Manager and Program Coordinator.


Bonuses are given for certifications relevant to working in the camping industry.


Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting in leading out-tripping related sessions during our summer staff training week
  • Maintaining an inventory of out-tripping equipment, ensuring safe use and appropriate repairs
  • Prepare food for out-trips
  • Assisting counsellors in the planning and preparation of out-trips
  • Preparing reports and evaluations as required
  • Assisting in the facilitation of various in-camp programs
  • Being an integral part of the on-camp community


Job Requirements:

  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C
  • Criminal Reference Check and a Child Intervention Check
  • Willing to learn to lead recreational activities on the water, at heights, and in all types of weather conditions
  • An excellent understanding of community and teamwork
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to think critically
  • Class 4 Drivers License (Can obtain once hired)

  • Residential camping and leadership experience

  • Out-tripping experience
  • Certifications in: canoeing, kayaking, climbing ropes courses, and/or wilderness first aid
