Job Description

  • To create fantastic, memorable experiences for visitors to the Rockies
  • To guide up to 24 guests on interpretive sightseeing tours
  • To bring guests to cultural and natural attractions in Banff and Western Canada
  • To tell stories in English on the natural and cultural history of Banff National Park and Western Canada
  • To provide transportation services within Banff and Western Canada
  • To drive a mini bus and other commercial vehicles
  • To provide exceptional customer experience working with a range of visitors from around the world


Essential requirements for all members of our operations team:


  • A passion for sharing and connecting with people and creating great travel experiences
  • Class 4 Alberta Drivers License (or willingness to obtain before the start of term)
  • Clean driver’s abstract
  • 16 hour first aid certificate
  • Must obtain and submit a RCMP reference check upon hire

Additional requirements for guides delivering interpretive day hikes:

  • Wilderness First Aid
  • Apprentice Hiking Guide Certificate (Interpretive Guide Association) – willingness to obtain before start of term

  • Confident and engaging public speaker
  • Knowledge of the local area
  • Passion for mountain life and culture
  • Confident group leaders/ instructing experience
  • Ability to work completely independently
  • Comfort using Mac computers, smartphones and various applications
  • Multiple languages

Working environment and interactions

  • Operate 24 passenger mini-buses in a safe, legal and comfortable manner
  • Guide safe on trail excursions and follow leave no trace principles
  • Day trip rotation of all daily tours and activities
  • Operate tour programs in all weather conditions
  • Reports to the Sr. Manager of Guiding Operations, Assistant Guide Manager, Dispatch Supervisor
  • Key internal contacts: Fleet Manager, Other Drivers, Tour Guides, Reservation Agents, Detailers


  • We offer full time employment from mid April to the end of October 2020.
  • Shifts in high season (June through to the end of September) often involve long hours. However we aim to ensure a quality work life balance with set days off each week and or multiple days off after multi-day tour programs.


  • Opportunities for the right candidate can involve working for our winter season as well. Mid November 2020 until Mid April 2021


We do help those new to the industry take on this exciting career, through a comprehensive in-house training program.
