Seasonal Equipment Manager 2018

whynotadventure Nova Scotia, Canada

Job Description

Maybe you’re the person we’re looking for. We have a ton of equipment, from tents, bicycles, camp stoves, thermarests, canoes and everything in between. It is almost a full time job looking after the gear, so we’re looking to find someone specifically to take it on. You’ve got to be good working with your hands and demonstrate a keen eye for detail. Your responsibilities will include repairing canoes and kayaks, maintaining the bicycle fleet (as our onsite mechanic), sourcing and ordering replacement parts, managing returns and warranties, as well as packing and assembling outgoing orders and cleaning, drying and putting away incoming orders.

If required, you may also be scheduled to work in the front office as a rental tech, so don’t be surprised if you get a few of these shifts.

We want you to have fresh ideas and bring a sense of innovation- there is always a better way to tackle a job. We’ll be looking for your input at our weekly meetings (these don’t always happen, but they seem great in theory). We always bring the beer, and sometimes pizza.

Some things that’ll give you a foot-up above others:

  • bike mechanic training/experience
  • fluency in french (or mandarin, german)
  • Mi’kmaq heritage
  • optimism
  • can handle a canoe and look dapper while doing it

Specifics:

  • Anticipated Start Date: May – June 2018
  • Anticipated End Date: September – October 2018
  • Posting End Date: April 2018
  • Positions: 1
  • Wage: $16.00 (depending on experience) per hour plus tips
  • Hours: 30-48 hours per week

How to Apply

Send a cover letter (important!) detailing what you've accomplished (in line with this job) that you're proud of and what you intend to do for us and how that'll translate to us becoming the best adventure tourism company in the world. Please include your resume, too. (info@whynotadventure.ca)
