Position: Backcountry Dog Sledding Guide and Handler
Position Status: Seasonal
Central Location: Huntsville, Ontario
Season: December 2017 – March 2018

Snow Forest Adventures is seeking a hard working, self-motivated guide/handler to join our fun and adventurous team. We pride ourselves on an extremely high level of dog care, client safety and our ability to offer unique world class dog sledding experiences to our clients. Our back country trips range from 2-10 days so we are looking for those who thrive and excel in a remote environment.


• Maintain a high level of safety on trips
• Carry out any emergency procedures
• Knowledgeable of SFA policies
• Maintain consistent energy level throughout the course

Trip Components
• Deliver world class dog sledding experience; surpass client expectations across the board, including food preparation and delivery, comfort on and off trail, nature interpretation and more.
• Teach dog sledding and winter camping skills
• Maintain excellent dog health during extended periods of time in backcountry
• Convey core beliefs and practices of SFA
• Engage clients in winter activities in camp
• Utilize different methods and styles of teaching

• Feed, clean and care for dogs in dog yard
• Support the start and end of trips at trail head and in dog yard
• Provide exceptional care for dogs on trail and at back country camps while on trips

• Establish effective rapport with a broad range of clients
• Ability to construct and maintain healthy working relationships
• Can facilitate honest self-assessment; open to feedback and learning
• Ability to travel comfortably and safely in the wilderness

Certifications & Experience
• Snowshoeing and winter camping expeditions
• Mushing and/or sled dog handling experience a definite asset
