Qualifications Required:
•18 years of age by commencement of camp program
•Current Standard First Aid & CPR
•Medication administration training
•Experience with persons with special needs
•Programme delivery in a residential camp setting
•On site residence is a requirement of this position
•Evening and weekend work is a requirement
•Hours of work will vary with registered programming program hours are usually 7:30am to 10:00pm
•A clear Criminal Record Check
•A clear Intervention Record Check through Alberta Children’s Services
•Contract runs from July 1st until Aug 30th

Major Responsibilities:
The Wellness/Inclusion Specialist is responsible for overseeing camper health, hygiene and safety; and providing assistance for campers with special needs.

Medication and First Aid
•Collect, verify expiry dates and document all medication as campers arrive
•Administer medication as needed as per medical directives and parent/guardian’s directions
•Document all medication administration and first aid according to YWCA procedures
•Oversee all first aid treatments
•Perform first aid as needed

Inclusion
•Assist staff with integrating all campers
•Provice additional resources to Counselling staff regarding camper behavioural and medical conditions
•Provide individual care of campers as required


Programme Development and Delivery
•Be familiar with programme options offered during summer camp

Camper Care and Supervision
•Ensure campers return home in the same (or better) condition in which they were sent
•Manage all risks present during the camp session
•Ensure campers maintain an adequate level of health and hygiene
•Assist campers in problem solving dilemmas as they occur, referring the dilemmas to appropriate resource staff as needed
•Redirect the behavior of campers as needed in a fair and appropriate way

Administrative Duties
•Liase with parent/guardians regarding incidents and illness
•Complete reports as necessary (incident, behavioral, medicine dosage, et cetera)
•Assist in administration and maintenance duties as assigned
•Help campers to keep their area in a clean and orderly manner
•Assist campers in carrying out sparkle time duties as assigned
•Complete set-up and clean-up tasks before and after camp sessions
•Write a report on summer camp programmes to be completed prior to the last week of camp

All Other duties as assigned
