The program leader/camp counselor delivers our educational programs and summer camp programs at the Bert Sheppard Scout Reserves Camp Gardner, Camp Impeesa and Camp Apistitoke. Candidates with a passion for the outdoors and interest in inspiring that passion in young people will be a good fit for this position. They will help deliver the schools and scouting program in the spring session then transition into our residential summer camp program. They will also plan and lead our high adventure backpacking program and participate in our Timber Trails horseback riding camps. This position is the primary caregiver for our campers and requires staff to plan, teach, coordinate and carry out all camp activities and guide campers in their personal growth at camp. This includes all theme days and out trip days. Candidates must be comfortable in participating in and teaching outdoor pursuits activities including camping, hiking, backpacking, canoeing etc. He or she must have the ability to "wear many hats" and be flexible with the ever changing camp community.
The program leader will be required to work at our various camps and program locations in Southern Alberta. Staff must be willing be located at any of our camp locations throughout the work period.
This position provides full room and board and a weekly salary. Inquire with application.

Standard First Aid and CPR
Provide a clear police record check
Comfortable in a rustic type of accommodation including basic cabin and/or tent
Good fitness ability
Able to work full days of 8 hours + in all weather and conditions including weekends
Ability to work with others
Experience working with youth in a summer camp environment an asset
Must be flexible and willing to accept daily and last minute changes in duties
Must be willing to travel and be comfortable working at all camp/program locations
Abilities in problem solving
Willingness to learn new skills
Experience in outdoor pursuits an asset
