We are seeking a recent or upcoming grad with a degree in Apparel or Industrial Design, and a passion for outdoor sports, to join our Research and Development team as a Design Assistant. As a Design Assistant, you will support the development of comprehensive design and product solutions that are in line with Arcteryx design philosophies and customer needs.
Ideally you will have:
Degree or working towards a degree in Design (Apparel or Industrial), or equivalent design experience
Avid involvement in and understanding of activities we make products for
Hands-on experience constructing products, preferably textile-based
Technical and creative skills to pattern and prototype
Strong entrepreneurial and innovative mind set
Excellent communication skills, including written and spoken English
Excellent time management skills
Strong planning and organizational skills
Attendance at tradeshows and company events as required
Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Assisting Designer in developing patterns and prototypes
Aiding in establishing construction detail and fit concepts with the Designer and sample floor
Testing various materials for suitability in construction and problem solve
Working and communicating with Designers, Pattern makers, and Product Developers to see styles through to completion
Working, communicating, and aiding with Design engineering to prototype and concept tools required for the manufacture of the final product
Working closely with Designer to develop standards and ensure consistency across all styles in the line plan, or individual programs within the line plan
Monitoring prototypes on sample floor and respond to problems as they arise
Assisting in product illustrations
