Outdoor Education Instructor

Company/organization: ALIVE Outdoors
Website: www.aliveoutdoors.com
Job type: contract
City/Town: Toronto
Location: Ontario
ALIVE Outdoors is seeking instructors for fall Outdoor & Experiential Education programs with school groups. There is a wide variety of program types, locations and participants.

The backbone and essence of each ALIVE Outdoors experience is right in our name: Adventure, Leadership, Individuality, Values and Empowerment. Our ultimate goal is to offer meaningful programs that empower young people to reach for their potential. We focus on helping students of all ages recognize and tap into their personal strengths, and aim to inspire them to share their gifts with each other to strengthen their communities. We strive to have students return to their school having learned some enriching lessons and with life-long memories.
To achieve the high calibre of programs that ALIVE is committed to delivering, we rely on highly experienced instructors and facilitators that believe in the importance of experiential education as much as we do. This requires high levels of experience and training. ALIVE truly values instructors who are individuals with strong character. Most ALIVE Instructors are mid-twenties to early thirties and many are certified teachers & veteran wilderness guides.
Our programs cover the gamut in experiential and outdoor scope. Programs take place in both residential Outdoor Centres as well as wilderness settings. Fall 2010 finds programs taking place in the Haliburton Highlands, Temagami, Muskoka and Algonquin Park areas.
Fall 2010 Programs start September 6th and go until October 1st, 2010.
Pay rates are discussed during interviews. Rates are very competitive within the industry. Additional pay increments are added for each of these certifications:

NLS lifeguards, Bronze Cross, WAFA (40hr) or WFR (80hr) wilderness first aid, ACCT ropes training, and Certified Teachers. We are also looking for nurses, paramedics or doctors.

All instructors must have a minimum of current Standard First Aid & CPR (16hr) and a clear, 2010 Criminal Record Check.

*Instructors are subcontracted for as little as 1 program week or as much as the full season.
