CAO Message

Jobtrekker CAOJobtrekker CAO When Jobtrekker began way back in early 2008 as a complimentary job board, it was a pet project. It was designed to be ruggedly simple. And it was aimed at solving a dilemma for the Canadian outdoor industry: how to better connect top employers with qualified talent.

Sure, that sounds like a lot of marketing babble. But it really captures the thinking.

I never expected Jobtrekker to become what it has today. It has been gratifying, to say the least, to hear from so many job seekers and employers about how this site has helped them connect. That’s what it’s all about!

In the past couple of years many of you sent emails and requests for new features. It started to stir the creative juices. It became clear that new investment by was needed to make Jobtrekker even better for clients and users. So that’s what we’ve done.

In May 2012 Jobtrekker introduced a nominal posting fee of $25 per job. (That’s about the equivalent of four boxes of really good trail granola!). After operating as a free service for more than four years, a revenue stream was needed. It’s helping to offset the costs of providing and managing this upgraded service into the future. In January 2013 we also significantly boosted our Internet servers (in tech lingo, that means we added bigger pipes!) to better serve our users.

The vision hasn’t changed. Jobtrekker exists to help people and an industry we all know and love. Your support is genuinely appreciated.

As always, if you have a suggestion, I’d welcome hearing from you!

In the meantime, have a great time out there paddling, hiking and exploring!
