Climate Change Agricultural Adaptation Specialist

The volunteer’s role
This placement is to support the strategic framework, best practices and knowledge sharing across national projects in the design and implementation of sustainable local development programmes that promote climate smart agricultural practices, protect the environment and improve resilience and adaptive capacities of citizens. In addition, through this partnership Cuso International will be able to draw on approaches, tools and methodologies that best address local vulnerabilities and provide instruments for adaptation in agriculture and natural resource management that can be applied to other partnerships and projects under VOICE.
The volunteer will:
1.Assist ARCCR to research, develop plan and model usage to analyst Climate Change Impacts on agriculture producing.
2.Assist ARCCR to establish the research plan and develop new technological and technical to support the farmers on climate change agriculture adaptation
3.Assist ARCCR to develop Climate change information system and awareness plans
4. Assist Cuso staff, volunteers and partners to draft Project Concept Note for an extended project for the expansion of CCAFS CSV. Support climate change vulnerability and risk assessments methodologies
5. Mainstream gender and social inclusion in partner organization project and all placement activities both with farmers and other stakeholders. This should be in relation to marginalized groups (people living with disabilities, indigenous minority groups, and people living with HIV/AIDS)
Essential Academic Qualifications
1.Bachelor Degree or a higher degree in Environmental Management, Agriculture, Climate Change in relation to natural resource management and adaptation.
Essential Professional Background/Competencies
– Experience of working on climate change agriculture adaptation and livelihood resilience
– Experience in policy development and strategy implementation of climate change adaptation programmes.
– Project implementation experience on agricultural resilience programme
– Demonstrated knowledge of climate variability and change and/or disaster risk management, as well as capacity building related to the provision and use of information to inform actions about disaster risk reduction or climate variability and change.
– Demonstrated understanding of climate vulnerability and risk assessment in a developing country context, with Southeast Asia preferred and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
