The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) is seeking an:
Environmental Regulations Customer Service Analyst
Regular Full Time, Newmarket, Ontario
Salary: $61,281 to $71,691
Reporting to the Manager, Regulations, you will support the regulations team by being the first point of contact with the general public in person and via the telephone with respect to the permit and/or plan review application process.
What you offer:
- A post-secondary education in Environmental Sciences, Geography, Resource Management or other related fields with a minimum of three years’ experience required.
- A working knowledge of Section 28 of the Conservation Authorities Act and regulation179/06 and other environmental legislation, planning statements and technical guidelines.
- Knowledge and experience in evaluation of construction plans and technical reports such as,
Environmental Impact Statements and have the ability to relate them to development applications. - Experience with Conservation Authorities, Municipalities or Government Agencies an asset.
- Strong customer service skills focusing on negotiation and mediation capabilities in addition to handling sensitive issues in a respectful and professional manner an absolute must.
- Applicants must have a strong background and related job experience with the Microsoft Office software suite, and use of digital mapping software.
- As this position works in a fast-paced team environment, team building skills and the ability to deal with change are essential.
What you will do:
- Provide advice and customer service to the public regarding the Conservation Authority’s mandate, regulations, permits, development policies and environmentally significant areas.
- Review permit applications ensuring that all information is present and forward completed applications to appropriate analysts or request further information from clients.
- Prepare written responses to other agencies based on review of information provided in applications or requests for information.
- Issue appropriate correspondence to clients and provide follow up on file status.
- Process any complaints pertaining to the permit application process as received.
- Process legal and real estate inquiries and provide written/verbal responses based on LSRCA’s Fees Policy ensuring that all responses are provided in conformity with Ontario Regulation 179/06 and the Watershed Development Policies.
- Perform other related duties as directed by the Manager, Regulations.
Hours of Work: 35, Monday to Friday (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
